BEF Debuts New Online Resource: Solar4RSchools.org |
The
Solar 4R Schools (S4RS) program has a new online home. To complement
the existing curriculum and teacher-training program, Solar4RSchols.org
now provides participating schools with online access to lesson plans,
presentations, and other useful classroom materials. The site consists
of a series of
interactive Web pages dedicated to each individual S4RS project.
Students and teachers can view school solar project photos, print out
classroom exercises, download current and historical data, and compare
their school system's electricity production to that of the school
across town or across the
country. Visit
www.Solar4RSchools.org. |

BEF Commits $300,000 to Restore Oregon's Deschutes Basin |
In
October of this year, BEF signed a memorandum of
understanding with the Crooked River Watershed Council and committed to
undertake a 10-year watershed restoration and monitoring partnership in
Oregon's lower Crooked River. With the signing of this agreement, BEF
finalized its efforts to
establish a long-term Deschutes Basin Model Watershed program with both
the Upper Deschutes and Crooked River Watershed Councils.
In November, BEF formally committed to provide $300,000 to support this
program and to restore water quality, habitat, and native trout and
salmon in three priority Deschutes River tributaries. |

One
Percent for the Planet is "an alliance of companies that
recognize the true cost of doing business and donate 1% of their sales
to environmental organizations worldwide." Recipients of 1% For the

and effectiveness in
environmental stewardship. BEF is in good company among the many
organizations supported through 1% For the Planet, and we encourage
participating businesses to include BEF in their group of annual
benefactors. To learn more about

BEF Included in Laurie David's New Book |
As
BEF supporters are aware, global warming has become the most urgent
issue
of our time. In her timely and important book, Laurie David explains
how global warming is personally impacting our lives today, and more
importantly, how each and every one of us must get involved and make a
difference. As Laurie says,
"It's not about someone doing everything, it's about everyone doing
something." Required reading for the preservation of our future, Stop Global Warming: The Solution is You! will bring about the activist in everyone. The
book features an extensive resource section that includes Bonneville Environmental Foundation as a solution.
