April 5,2002 (Portland, Ore.) - The Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) announced today that six watershed projects (managed by five organizations) will receive a combined total of $229,711 through 2003 from the Foundation. The projects ranging from initial watershed biological assessments to long-term restoration and monitoring projects are spread throughout the western states of Oregon, Idaho, and Washington.
"The entire region benefits as a result of the good work being done by the programs receiving these grants," said former Senator Mark O. Hatfield, chair of the Foundation, upon announcement of the awards. "These groups are laying the groundwork for a legacy of healthier streams, restored fish runs, and cleaner air throughout the Northwest."
Added Foundation President Angus Duncan, "These projects have met BEF's rigorous tests for effectiveness, good sense and community support. Ratepayers whose green power dollars support this program can be confident of getting their monies worth."
