Natural and Organic Products Industry To Revitalize People And The Planet Using Natural Energy Sources Through The Bonneville Environmental Foundation
Natural Products Expo West Organizers & Exhibitors Purchase Renewable Energy Offsets To Reduce Environmental Impacts of National Trade Show Attendance Including Travel and Product Manufacturing and Distribution
Portland, Ore. - (March 12, 2008) - Natural product manufacturers have expanded their mission to promote healthy and natural food consumption with a more global environmental message: replace our dependence on fossil fuels with natural, replenishable energy. The correlation of healthy bodies and healthy living is made clear through their efforts to directly address the effects of global warming pollution. A growing number of natural product providers have now embraced clean energy programs around the country by purchasing carbon offsets from the Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) that support renewable energy projects.
"It's inspiring to see our natural food customers evolve their mission of promoting healthy food to include taking care of our environment because it also produces tangible health benefits," said Margie Gardner CEO of BEF.
BEF Clean Energy Offsets represent the real benefits of green power when it replaces carbon dioxide and other global warming pollution that occurs when burning traditional fossil fuels.
Exhibitors at this years Natural Products Expo West that support this effort through the purchase of BEF Clean Energy Offsets include the following:

Additionally, officials at New Hope Natural Media, organizers of the annual Natural Products Expo West trade show, www.expowest.com taking place March 13-16 in Anaheim, Calif., have chosen to offset the environmental impact of operating the Anaheim Convention Center during the show. Show sponsor WhiteWave Foods has stepped forward to purchase renewable energy credits for the third consecutive year.
A total of 690 renewable energy credits will displace more than 517.5 tons of carbon it's estimated will be produced by show activities--the environmental equivalent of keeping the average car off the road for almost 100 years. Show attendees may also green their travel by purchasing carbon offsets through BEF.
"Greening Expo West is just one example of our efforts to reduce air pollution and clean up our planet," said Fred Linder, president of New Hope Natural Media. "We're pleased with the partnership with WhiteWave Foods and BEF and for the active support of so many of our exhibitors and attendees."
About Bonneville Environmental Foundation
The Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF), a Portland, Ore.-based nonprofit organization, was established in 1998 to further the development and use of new renewable energy resources and restore watershed ecosystems. Through revenues generated from the sale of green power products, BEF funds projects that support new renewable energy projects from solar, wind and biomass and restore damaged watersheds. Revenues generated from its sales of Green Tags directly support additional new watershed restoration and renewable energy projects such as the national Solar4RSchools program.
